Every clean we do is a one-off, booked for a specific date. We are not a weekly or fortnightly cleaner service, and there is more on that below so nobody wastes a phone call. Why a house takes longer than an apartment
This is the part people are surprised by when they compare quotes, so it is worth setting out plainly. Five things add time to a house that are simply not there in a one-bed apartment.
Stairs, landings and bannisters
An apartment has none of this. A house has a staircase with spindles, a bannister, and carpet or timber edges that trap dust, plus a landing at the top — and on a three-storey house, all of it twice over. It is slow, awkward work that cannot be rushed.
Two or three bathrooms instead of one
Bathrooms are the most labour-intensive rooms in any property, because of descaling. A three-bed house with a family bathroom, an en suite and a downstairs loo has three of them. That alone can be the difference between a morning and a full day.
A bigger kitchen, and usually a utility
More presses to do inside and out, more worktop, and frequently a separate utility with a washing machine, a dryer and a sink that all need doing.
Dirt comes in from outside
Houses have front doors onto gardens, driveways and paths, and often a dog. Halls, porches, skirtings and the bottoms of doors carry a ground-in grit that apartment hallways do not.
More floors means moving everything
Equipment, materials and a vacuum have to go up and down rather than staying on one level. On a larger house that is a real share of the day.

Older Dublin houses take longer than newer ones
A large share of Dublin’s suburban housing went up between the 1950s and the 1980s, and much of it still has its original kitchen and bathroom. That matters to a quote for three reasons.
Older fittings hold dirt. Presses that have been painted several times, sealant that has been renewed more than once, and tiled surfaces with wide grout lines all take longer than a flat modern equivalent.
Dublin water is hard. Limescale on shower screens, taps and tiles is part of nearly every bathroom in the city, and in a house that has not been done in a few years it is usually the single biggest visible difference at the end of the day. Descaling is included rather than charged as an extra.
New builds are a different job again. There is little grease but a lot of fine builders’ dust, and it is in the window frames, behind the radiators and on top of every door. See after builders cleaning for handovers.

One-off cleans, not a weekly cleaner
Worth being straight about this, because a good share of people searching for house cleaning in Dublin want something we do not provide.
What we are, and what we are not
We are a one-off intensive clean, booked for a set date. Most customers use us once or twice a year, or around a specific event — moving in, putting the house on the market, after building work, or before family arrive.
We are not a domestic cleaning agency. We do not place a cleaner with you weekly or fortnightly, and we do not do two-hour tidy-up visits. If that is what you need, we are not the right fit and it is better you know before you ring.
The one exception is recurring work for buildings rather than homes: we clean communal areas, stairwells and lobbies for apartment developments on an ongoing basis, invoiced monthly.
House cleaning questions
How long does a house take?
A three-bed is usually a full morning to most of a day for a two-person team. A four or five-bed is a full day. If the oven or the bathrooms have not been done in a long time, it is at the longer end. We give a realistic window when we quote rather than a best case.
Do you clean three-storey houses and attic conversions?
Yes. Both add time rather than being a problem — extra stairs, and attic rooms often have awkward eaves and skylights. Mention it on the call so the quote and the time allowed are right.
Do I need to be there on the day?
No. Plenty of customers leave a key or arrange access with a neighbour or agent. We do need the house to have electricity and hot water, and if the freezer is to be cleaned it must be defrosted beforehand.
Are windows included?
Internal glass, frames and tracks are an optional extra, priced in the table above. We do not clean external windows above ground-floor level.
Do you clean carpets and upholstery?
A house clean includes vacuuming throughout, but not wet carpet or upholstery cleaning. Tell us if you want that and we will quote it separately.
Can you just do the kitchen and bathrooms?
Yes. Those two are the bulk of the work in any house, and a part-property clean is quoted individually rather than off the table above.
Is this the same as an end of tenancy clean?
The work is similar, but an end of tenancy clean is measured against what a letting agent signed the property out at, and the house should be empty. If a deposit is involved, use our end of tenancy cleaning page.
